Boomerang USA DC Super Hero Girls Special Premieres Spring 2016

According to Toy News International, Boomerang USA will premiere a 44-minute DC Super Hero Girls special this Spring, the animated special is made in partnership with Warner Bros. Animation and Mattel’s Playground Productions. The DC Super Hero Girls animated special will feature female characters from DC Comics, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl. Also, DC Super Hero Girls animated shorts will appear on the Cartoon Network App in the United States.

The new animated special will promote DC Comics/Warner Bros’ and Mattel’s latest toy, clothing and accessories range of the same name and will be sold exclusively at Target in the United States. Also, a DC Super Hero Girls App will be released this month, enabling the user to experience the DC Super Hero Girls universe, featuring video clips and games.

Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment, President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and President & Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment made this statement regarding the DC Super Hero Girls exclusive retail deal with American retailer Target:

“It’s time for girls to get their capes on and envision themselves as strong, powerful and connected beings at the center of their own superhero story, and DC Super Hero Girls provides a brand-new, robust universe to do just that. The toys, dolls, action figures and books that are rolling out at Target this spring, combined with the fun animated series currently online, feature stories of empowerment, inspiration and optimism that are relatable to girls. This program is changing the face of superhero culture, and we are really proud of that.”

Justice League Action To Premiere On Cartoon Network USA Soon

On Friday (29/01/2016), Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics made an announcement that their latest animated series, Justice League Action will premiere soon on Cartoon Network USA. The new action series will feature Batman (voiced by Kevin Conroy), Superman, Wonder Woman and Booster Gold (Diedrich Bader) and other DC Comics superheroes alongside villains such as the Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) and Lex Luthor (James Woods). Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) will serve as executive producer with Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series) and Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) also serving as producers.

Each episode will be an action packed 11 minutes in length, a similar timeframe to Cartoon Network’s current animated shows.

News about a new Justice League animated show was revealed last October as information was accidently leaked out by Cartoon Network Canada’s owners – Corus Entertainment. As the information was not released by Turner or Warner Bros., it was not a direct official confirmation.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products And Toy State Signs DC Super Friends Toys Deal

Today (28/07/2015) it has emerged that Toy State and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have signed a global licensing agreement for Toy State to produce remote-controlled vehicles toys featuring the DC Comics Super Friends brand. The DC Super Friends include superheroes such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. The toys will be targeted for the children aged 3 to 7 years old and will be distributed under the Nikko brand. Animated shows featuring Batman and Superman have aired on TimeWarner’s Cartoon Network.

Andy Friess, the president of Toy State made this statement about the Toy product licencing deal with Warner Bros:

“It’s with great excitement that we announce our new global partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Comics is a legendary brand and has been redefining the superhero genre for decades. We look forward to adding Toy State product design and innovation to DC Super Friends at retail. It’s not every day that someone gets an opportunity to say this, but we’re thrilled to welcome Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and all of the DC Super Friends to the Toy State team.”

Paul Bufton, the VP of licensing and business development at Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA also made a statement regarding the deal:

DC Comics has a rich history with a deep character portfolio, and we can’t wait to watch Toy State create vehicles that bring our characters to life in new and exciting ways.”
