Turner Asia-Pacific Appoints Jia Salindong-Du As Philippines Country Manager

Today (16th May) Turner Asia-Pacific has appointed Jia Salindong-Du as Country Manager for Turner’s operations in the Philippines, which includes its Kids and Entertainment brands, Ms Salindong-Du will be responsible for marketing, developing local content opportunities and distribution of Turner’s properties including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Warner TV and news channel – CNN International.

Prior to working at Turner, Ms Salindong-Du worked for personal and household care company – Procter & Gamble, where she helped to market their beauty and haircare products portfolio, she also worked as a part-time marketing professor at Ateneo de Manila University in Manila, Philippines.

Turner Asia Pacific has announced the appointment of Jia Salindong-Du as Country Manager, Philippines.

Ms Salindong-Du is tasked with scaling Turner’s Kids and Entertainment business in the Philippines, which includes developing local content opportunities, creating greater consumer experiences and expanding the brands’ fanbase. She will also support ad-sales, and operate in tandem with the consumer products and licensing team for Cartoon Network.

In addition, she will be responsible for the channel distribution of Turner brands locally, including CNN International, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Warner TV.

Vishal Dembla, General Manager of Turner’s business in Southeast Asia, said: “Jia has worked in a number of brand management and business development roles, and she will be an excellent leader for our highly-ambitious team in Manila. The Philippines is one of our most important markets in Southeast Asia and, with Jia now in place, we are confident of continued growth there.”

Ms Salindong-Du joins Turner with a decade of FMCG experience. At Procter & Gamble, she worked on the beauty and haircare products portfolio to launch and grow brands such as Olay, Rejoice and Safeguard. She also built the company’s local shopper marketing group from the ground up – working with top retailers to deliver superior shopper programs.

She has worked on various aspects of organizational development – serving as a corporate trainer and as a regular external resource for marketing-related topics and being a mentor to many young talents. Ms Salindong-Du was also a part-time marketing professor at her alma mater, Ateneo de Manila University.

Cartoon Network Now Available On AIS In Thailand

Thailand-based internet television service – AIS has signed a carriage deal with Turner Asia-Pacific for Cartoon Network and CNN. AIS Play and AIS Playbox customers will now be able to enjoy Cartoon Network’s current animated hits including Ben 10, The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes and We Bare Bears, meanwhile CNN will offer news from around the world. In total, Turner has six channels carried on AIS which also includes Cartoon Network’s sister channel Boomerang, Warner TV and HLN.

Cartoon Network is now included in the Premier Full HD and Sportainment Full HD packages for AIS Play and the Platinum Full HD and Family Full HD packages for AIS Playbox. CNN is now included in the Premier Full HD package on AIS Play as well as the Platinum Full HD package in AIS Playbox.

Until Thursday 22nd February, AIS subscribers can enjoy Cartoon Network and CNN for free for both AIS Play and AIS Playbox.

Vishal Dembla Appointed VP And General Manager For Turner Southeast Asia

This week (06/02/2017), Turner Southeast Asia has appointed a new vice president and general manager – Vishal Dembla. In his new role, Mr Dembla will oversee, lead and develop all of Turner’s entertainment and kids channel operations in the Southeast Asia region. This includes Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

Mr. Dembla will oversee ad-sales, content sales, programming, creative, channel distribution and marketing departments and will be based in Singapore.

In his previous role, Mr. Dembla was responsible for Turner’s distribution and content sales in Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which has now expanded to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Turner Asia Pacific has announced the establishment of a new Southeast Asia organization and appointment of a new regional lead to be based in Singapore.

Vishal Dembla has been named Vice President and General Manager of Turner Southeast Asia. In this new role, he has been tasked with growing all of Turner’s commercial and channel operations within this increasingly important region, as well as the day-to-day management of its kids and entertainment businesses in Southeast Asia.

“For the first time, we have aligned all our Southeast Asia efforts under one executive and these changes will enable Turner to better develop its growing business in this region,” commented Phil Nelson, Turner’s Managing Director of Southeast Asia Pacific and North Asia. “Vishal has been an integral member of our senior management team – forging new initiatives and driving growth – and is well-positioned for this new role.”

In addition to oversight of all commercial lines including ad-sales and content sales, Mr. Dembla will lead the region’s programming, creative services and marketing departments for all of Turner’s kids and entertainment brands. The team will also handle the network distribution side of the business – focusing on further expanding the reach of brands including CNN International, Warner TV, Oh!K, Cartoon Network and Boomerang in Southeast Asia.

In his previous capacity, Mr. Dembla was responsible for Turner’s distribution and content sales in Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. His expanded geographical remit now also includes Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
