Cartoon Network UK Summer Camp Island Premieres On Monday 4th March
According to a new TV guide data update from TV listings provider – Digiguide, Cartoon Network UK and Ireland will be premiering a brand new original series from Cartoon Network Studios – Summer Camp Island on Monday 4th March at 5.45pm with new episodes airing weekdays at 5.45pm.
Over the weekend (Friday 1st February to Sunday 3rd February), Virgin Media TV cable customers in the UK had the opportunity to see ten episodes of the show on the Virgin TV Kids preview channel before it officially premieres on CN UK. Also the same ten episodes are now available to stream on Sky’s budget standalone streaming service – Now TV.
Summer Camp Island Premieres On The Virgin Media TV Kids Preview Channel In The UK On 1st February
Before its official debut on Cartoon Network UK, Summer Camp Island will be airing on Virgin Media’s Kids TV Preview channel from 4pm this Friday (1st February) as a sneak peek preview. The show is about two best friends named Oscar and Hedgehog staying at a magical summer camp full of mystery and wonder. On Summer Camp Island, anything can happen and exist, it’s a place of witches, yetis and talking sharks and monsters hiding underneath beds and where everyday items are alive and can talk. The new show is created by British animation director – Julia Pott, known for her episode story-writing on Adventure Time. The show has similarities with another Cartoon Network show – Camp Lazlo for its summer camp premise and has Adventure Time’s essence of fantasy. Many members of Adventure Time’s production team now working on the new show including Adventure Time’s head writer Kent Osborne and writer and artist Cole Sanchez.
Virgin Media is the UK’s only widespread national cable television company, the Virgin Media Kids TV Preview channel usually shows promos of children’s shows on all channels that are available on their pay-TV platform, but Friday this week from 4pm will be an exception as ten episodes from the new series will be airing. The episodes will also be repeated on the same channel on Saturday and Sunday at the same time of 4pm.
Also all ten episodes of Summer Camp Island will be available from Monday 4th February as an On Demand Box Set on Virgin Media’s video on-demand service.
Virgin Media Launches Kids TV App Features Boomerang And Cartoonito Shows
This week, British cable television provider – Virgin Media (a part of the Liberty Global group) has launched its children’s television mobile app – Virgin TV Kids. The app also features some content that air on Boomerang and Cartoonito for the new app including Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder, Scooby-Doo!, Tom and Jerry and Thomas and Friends. The app is available at no extra cost to all Virgin Media TV customers who have either the Fun or Full House TV package. The app also includes content from Nick Jr, Tiny Pop and Channel 5’s Milkshake programming block. The app was announced at this year’s Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield in July, the launch of the app follows the launch of a similar kids app by Virgin’s biggest rival – Sky.
The app features a child friendly design and offers hundreds of hours of video-on-demand TV content suitable for children aged between 3 and 7 years old. The app also features games and picture books and it’s also a safe environment for young children with no advertising or inappropriate content. The app also features individual profile functionality, a repeat show five-times looper button, download show functionality and security settings. The app can be used on up to four compatible devices in the UK and can be used with a WiFi, 3G or 4G connection, mobile data rates may apply.
While talking about the new app, Virgin Media’s chief digital entertainment officer, David Bouchier said:

Our Kids app has not only the UK’s best selection of pre-school entertainment, but it comes with added peace of mind for parents – an environment free from ads and other commercial influences.”
