Join Zuzu and her friends in their delicious kingdom! Zuzubalandia is a kingdom where everything is made of food. The neighborhoods are made of fruits, candies, vegetables, sushi, cheese and other delicious things. The main character is a bee called Zuzu. She dreams about being a famous singer – although she has a terrible voice! Very close to the kingdom lives a witch who’s under a spell and hates food. She wants to destroy Zuzubalandia to make it stop growing and invading her land. Zuzu and her friends have the mission to keep the witch from succeeding in her evil plans.

Cartoon Network characters are making guest appearances alongside Brazil’s most popular cartoon characters in a series of special online-only comic strips. Ben 10, Clarence, The Powerpuff Girls and more will be appearing alongside the characters of Monica’s Gang (Turma da Mônica as it’s known in Brazil) such as Jimmy Five (Cebolinha), Smudge (Cascão) and Maggy (Magali). Both Mauricio de Sousa Productions (the producers of Monica’s Gang’s comics and TV series, owned by Monica’s Gang creator – Mauricio de Sousa) and Cartoon Network Brazil will be sharing the comic strips on social media.

The comic strip crossover forms part of a long-lasting partnership with Mauricio de Sousa Productions and Cartoon Network Brazil. CN Brazil has been airing episodes from the Monica’s Gang animated series since 2004.

In December 2017, the creator of OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes – Ian Jones-Quartey met up with Mauricio de Sousa and exchanged artwork, while his time in Brazil, Ian attended the Comic Con Experience convention in São Paulo.

From Next Monday (11th June) to Saturday 16th June, is this year’s Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France. The Annecy Animation Festival is considered to be one of the largest and influential animation industry events in the world, the festival is an opportunity for animation studios to promote their work, for broadcasters to buy new shows, for studios to seek new talent or for potential show creators to find inspiration. The festival is also one of the most important events on Cartoon Network’s yearly calendar.

As with recent years at the Annecy Animation Festival, there will some Cartoon Network related events which will be mostly held on Thursday 14th June. On Thursday at 9.30am, there will be a session with Pablo Zuccarino, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cartoon Network Latin America.

Later on Thursday at 10.15am, Cecilia Persson VP, Programming & Content Strategy, Turner EMEA Kids / Acquisitions & Co-Production, International will be speaking at the festival and will be representing the Cartoon Network’s international divisions in terms of programming, acquisitions and co-productions.

During the late afternoon at 4pm on Thursday, there will be a special panel organised by Cartoon Network celebrating woman in the animation industry called “Cartoon Network Celebrate Women in the World of Animation”, speaking at the event will be Eva Lee Wallberg – the creator of The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, Lauren Sassen – the creative director for Cartoon Network Studios’ We Bare Bears, Julia Pott – the creator of Cartoon Network’s newest animated series – Summer Camp Island and Patricia Hidalgo – Chief Content Officer, Turner EMEA & International Kids Strategy.

In the evening at 5.45pm, Turner France and Africa (Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing and Toonami) will be hosting a panel with Julien Borde – Head of Channels, Stéphane Pasquier-Miyazaki – Director of Programming, Ariane Suveg – Senior Manager of Programming and Acquisitions and Aurélie Wack – Acquisitions and Programmes Senior Executive.

As already reported by the blog in March, We Bare Bears, Cartoon Network Studios Europe’s The Heroic Quest Of The Valiant Prince Ivandoe and Cartoon Network Latin America’s Jorel’s Brother have been selected for Annecy’s 2018 TV Films In Competition and will be shown at the festival.

This year’s theme at the Annecy Animation Festival is Brazilian animation and three Cartoon Network Brazil shows will be showcased at the festival (along with the aforementioned Jorel’s Brother series) – Oswaldo, Mônica Toy (Turma da Mônica/Monica’s Gang spin-off) and Historietas Assombradas para Crianças Maleriadas (Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids).

Also, the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack – Genndy Tartakovsky, will also be present at the festival.

Cartoon Network President and General Manager – Christina Miller was about to deliver a keynote speech at the Annecy Animation Festival called “Cartoon Network: Drawing the Future”, this has now been cancelled due to business reasons.
