Steven Universe Soundtrack Volume One Reached Number One In The Billboard Vinyl Album Charts

The vinyl version of Steven Universe Soundtrack: Volume 1 has topped the U.S. Billboard Vinyl Album Charts at number one for the week of 10th March 2018, merchandising company – iam8bit.com started shipping out vinyl orders a couple of weeks ago. Steven Universe fans ordered copies well in advance when orders started being accepted last July. The four-pack vinyl version includes a total of 37 songs from the popular animated series (including “Love Like You” and “Stronger Than You”) with album art by Chromosphere.

Vinyl copies of Steven Universe Soundtrack: Volume 1 are still available to buy at iam8bit.com for the price of $49.99 (USD). Alternatively, the soundtrack is available in digital format on iTunes and on music streaming services such as Spotify.

Today (27/07/2017) Cartoon Network USA and Cartoon Network UK has uploaded the official music video for Steven Universe’s Stronger Than You onto YouTube. The music video was recorded at San Diego Comic Con last Sunday in front of a huge crowd of Steven Universe fans. The song was performed by Estelle Darlings, the voice of Garnet (the character that performs the song in the show) standing on a stage shaped just like Steven’s gem. The song is also on the Steven Universe: Volume 1 Soundtrack.

Fans had the unique opportunity to make an appearance in the music video and some even went as their favourite characters, in the music video you can spot Peridot, Lapis Lazuli, Ruby, Sapphire, Jasper, Garnet, Pearl and several people wearing Steven’s recognisable star t-shirt.

Yesterday (23/07/2017) was the last day of San Diego Comic Con 2017, on the final day at the convention, three Cartoon Network related events took place, the Steven Universe: Art and Origins discussion session, the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu panel (as well as The Ninjago Movie video game demonstration) and a live recording of the official Steven Universe “Stronger Than You” music video with Estelle and a huge crowd of Steven Universe fans.

Starting off Sunday at the convention was the panel for the newly released Steven Universe: Art and Origins art book, although the panel was more like a relaxed conversation. Rebecca Sugar discussed the making of the art book. Rebecca was joined by Ian Jones-Quartey (former supervising director for Steven Universe) and the book’s author, Chris McDonnell. Leading the conversion, Rebecca talked about what influenced the show, the development of the characters (including early character concept art) and design of the show as well as the show’s music. There was an autograph session, this was an opportunity to get a copy of the new art book signed.

Also on Sunday afternoon, was the panel for the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV show, the event was an in-depth behind the scenes look into the making of the animated series and development behind the Lego toys associated with the series. Attending the panel were Kevin and Dan Hageman (show writers), Tommy Andreasen (showrunner), Simon Lucas (senior creative director at Lego), and Nelson Lamonica (IP lead at Lego). Some info about the upcoming season, season eight was unveiled, the season will be called “Sons of Garmadon” and a (silent) sneak peek of the new season can be seen in the video below.

Also at the Lego booth, there was a live demonstration of the new Ninjago movie video game.

A huge crowd of Steven Universe fans gathered round to take part in the official “Stronger Than You” music video with Estelle yesterday.
