The Powerpuff Girls POW! Academy At The 2019 British Gymnastics Championships
Last week (Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th March) was the 2019 British Gymnastics Championships at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, it was also the first British Gymnastics Championships after the formation of the POW! Academy, a joint initiative between British Gymnastics and Cartoon Network which was introduced last July. The POW! Academy is a Powerpuff Girls themed event where gymnasts ages 5 to 11 can show off their talents by linking skills they have learned. There are eight sequences gymnasts can perform to earn POW! Academy badges and certificates.
Children from the Beth Tweddle Gymnastics Academy performed POW! Academy routines at the event. During the event, presenters shot POW! T-shirts into the crowd and The Powerpuff Girls – Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup were present for fan meet and greets.
Cartoon Network UK And British Gymnastics Partner For Powerpuff Girls POW! Academy
Cartoon Network UK and British Gymnastics have teamed up to form a new joint venture that aims to inspire and reward young gymnasts across the UK called – “POW! Academy”. The joint venture will makes use of Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls as the initiative’s mascots. The superpowered trio collectively known as The Powerpuff Girls – or as they known individually – Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are the original ambassadors of girl power and are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, they’re an inspiration to young girls everywhere.
POW! Academy initiative will launch this autumn and will be a chance for young gymnasts aged between 5 and 11 years to demonstrate their talents and to link skills they’ve learnt in their gymnastics sessions into creative sequences. Every time a gymnast reaches a new level, they will be awarded with a badge and certificate. The initiative aims to inspire the next generation of British gymnastics champions.
The partnership was launched today at British Gymnastics HQ in Shropshire, England where professional gymnastics champions – Ellie Downie and Hamish Carter, the Powerpuff Girls and local gymnasts were invited to an inaugural POW! Academy session. The POW! Academy will be available exclusively to British Gymnastics member organisations from this autumn. The partnership will have additional activities and initiatives throughout the three-year period.

British Gymnastics and Cartoon Network are delighted to announce a new joint venture to inspire and reward thousands of gymnasts across the country, with the help of the original ambassadors of girl power The Powerpuff Girls, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2018.
The POW! Academy launches this autumn and is a new initiative aimed at budding gymnasts aged 5-11yrs. The POW! Academy challenges gymnasts to show off their talents and be proud of their achievements focused on linking the skills they have learnt in their gymnastics sessions into creative sequences. Every time a gymnast successfully achieves a new level, they’ll be rewarded through a new badge and certificate scheme.

The partnership and POW! Academy was launched today at British Gymnastics HQ with characters from the series, star gymnasts Ellie Downie, Hamish Carter and local gymnasts were invited to an inaugural taster session.

The POW! Academy will be available exclusively to member organisations from this autumn. This exciting partnership will see additional activities and initiatives established throughout the three-year period.
