Cartoon Network USA Adventure Time Minecraft Special Sneak Peek

Yesterday (19/11/2017), Cartoon Network USA shown a special sneak peek of the upcoming Adventure Time Minecraft special – “Diamonds and Lemons”, the special episode will premiere sometime during Summer 2018. The sneak peek was shown during Mojang’s annual Minecraft event – Minecon which was streamed online and was later uploaded onto Cartoon Network USA’s YouTube account. The sneak peek was presented by Jeremy Shada (voice of Finn The Human) and Olivia Olson (Voice of Marceline The Vampire Queen), during the sneak peek various character design sheets were shown depicting the characters with a Minecraft-like design including Finn, Jake, Marceline, Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Lemongrab and Lumpy Space Princess also the episode will feature some of the creatures (referred to as “Mobs”) in the game including Skeletons and Endermen.

Some background art was also shown including Finn and Jake’s treehouse, a forest backdrop and a scene with a reference to “griefing”, which refers to an unfriendly practice of destroying other people’s buildings and creations in Minecraft’s multiplayer mode. Some storyboard animatics from the episode’s development phase were shown during the sneak peek.

Judging from the artwork, the special episode will be a halfway house between Adventure Time’s and Minecraft’s art-style, although the characters and the scenery have a blocky appearance, they have rounded edges and unlike Minecraft, the textures ain’t pixelated and the characters still mostly resemble their likeness from any other episode of Adventure Time. To summarise, it’s Minecraft if it was designed by Adventure Time’s production crew.
