Cartoon Network EMEA Gets Ben 10 Broadcasting Licence
According to Ofcom’s May 2018 broadcast licence update, Turner EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) has reused and renamed one of their existing broadcasting licenses (Adult Swim) for what could be a Ben 10 themed television channel or interactive service. Ofcom (Office of Communications) is the broadcasting and telecoms regulator for the United Kingdom, the British equivalent to the United States’ FCC or France’s CSA, to legally broadcast from the UK, a licence must be obtained from Ofcom.
Although, the Ben 10 channel/service has a UK licence, its not clear what country the new channel/service is intended for, as a significant chunk of Turner’s channels in the EMEA region broadcast from the UK. It’s likely that the licence maybe used for a thematic pop-up channel which seems to be common these days, for example Nick Jr. Peppa in the UK, or for a Cartoon Network example from Italy – Lo Straordinario Canale di Gumball (The Amazing Channel Of Gumball). It would be interesting to see a channel filled with nothing but alien adventures with Ben 10.
