Boomerang Southeast Asia To Relaunch On 1st January 2015

Boomerang Rebrand

Today it was announced that Boomerang Southeast Asia will relaunch on 1st January 2015, the news came as a surprise especially as the original feed was closed down on 1st December 2012 and was replaced by Toonami. Boomerang Southeast Asia will replace Cartoonito Asia on 1st January 2015 in the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Myanmar (Burma). In Singapore, the channel will return on the same date as a completely new channel on StarHub, as Cartoonito Asia doesn’t currently broadcast there.

Boomerang is currently remodeling itself internationally as a family orientated channel, and the launch of a Netherlands and Flanders feed and relaunch of the Southeast Asia feed is a part of the plan to focus more attention on Boomerang as a channel alongside Cartoon Network.

Boomerang Southeast Asia will broadcast exclusive original content for the first time, including shows from Warner Bros such as Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and the new show Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!. It will also air acquired series, such as the new CGI Inspector Gadget series and Netflix’s and Dreamworks’ Turbo: Fast as well as the second season of the animated Mr Bean series.

Mark Eyers, Chief Content Officer – Kids, Turner International Asia Pacific made this statement regarding the return of the Boomerang Southeast Asia feed:

“Boomerang has returned to Asia and it has never looked so good. The channel is powered with premium content from Warner Bros. meaning that it will now be the home in Southeast Asia for the likes of Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo. The re-launch is a global initiative with a commitment to acquire the world’s very best animation, and we’ll be one of the first regions to unveil the new-look brand. Right from the start, we’ll be airing the all-new Inspector Gadget and Turbo FAST series. In April, we’re very excited to debut the long awaited and truly family favourite – the incomparable Mr Bean – in a spectacular new animated season.”

So far, the Boomerang Latin American feeds and Boomerang Australia have rebranded. It has also been announced that Boomerang France and Boomerang Central Eastern Europe will rebrand on 3rd January and 2nd February 2015 respectively.
