Jorel’s Brother Gets A Positive Response From MIPCOM Last Week (15th to 18th October)

Last week at MIPCOM, Copa Studio’s and Cartoon Network Latin America’s Jorel’s Brother (Brazilian Portuguese title: Irmão do Jorel) was met with positive responses from countries in Asia, Europe and Oceania regarding the show’s planned internationalisation, there was also interest for Copa Studio’s Trunk Train (Brazilian Portuguese title: Tromba Trem) and Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids (Brazilian Portuguese title: Historietas Assombradas para Crianças Malcriadas), both shows have aired on Cartoon Network Latin America and Cartoon Network Brazil.

Eight New Episodes of Monica’s Gang To Be Screened at Cinemark Cinemas In Brazil

On 2nd to 4th November, 17 Cinemark cinemas will be showing eight never before seen of the Monica’s Gang (Brazilian Portuguese title: Turma da Mônica) animated series from season two, plus some additional special content at 12.50pm every day. Monica’s Gang is a popular Brazilian comic book franchise created by Mauricio de Sousa, the animated television adaptation of the same name which will be shown in cinemas airs on Cartoon Network Latin America and Cartoon Network Brazil.

Turner Putting Fans at the Center Keynote Speech at Incite Group Brand Marketing Summit In New York (24th to 25th October)

Turner’s Global Chief Communications and Corporate Marketing Officer Molly Battin was a keynote speaker at the Incite Brand Marketing Summit in New York this week (24th and 25th October), the speech was about how to build a fandom also about Turner’s new global brand campaign – “We Make Fans”, the keynote speech was called “Putting Fans at the Center”.

From Next Monday (11th June) to Saturday 16th June, is this year’s Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France. The Annecy Animation Festival is considered to be one of the largest and influential animation industry events in the world, the festival is an opportunity for animation studios to promote their work, for broadcasters to buy new shows, for studios to seek new talent or for potential show creators to find inspiration. The festival is also one of the most important events on Cartoon Network’s yearly calendar.

As with recent years at the Annecy Animation Festival, there will some Cartoon Network related events which will be mostly held on Thursday 14th June. On Thursday at 9.30am, there will be a session with Pablo Zuccarino, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cartoon Network Latin America.

Later on Thursday at 10.15am, Cecilia Persson VP, Programming & Content Strategy, Turner EMEA Kids / Acquisitions & Co-Production, International will be speaking at the festival and will be representing the Cartoon Network’s international divisions in terms of programming, acquisitions and co-productions.

During the late afternoon at 4pm on Thursday, there will be a special panel organised by Cartoon Network celebrating woman in the animation industry called “Cartoon Network Celebrate Women in the World of Animation”, speaking at the event will be Eva Lee Wallberg – the creator of The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, Lauren Sassen – the creative director for Cartoon Network Studios’ We Bare Bears, Julia Pott – the creator of Cartoon Network’s newest animated series – Summer Camp Island and Patricia Hidalgo – Chief Content Officer, Turner EMEA & International Kids Strategy.

In the evening at 5.45pm, Turner France and Africa (Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Boing and Toonami) will be hosting a panel with Julien Borde – Head of Channels, Stéphane Pasquier-Miyazaki – Director of Programming, Ariane Suveg – Senior Manager of Programming and Acquisitions and Aurélie Wack – Acquisitions and Programmes Senior Executive.

As already reported by the blog in March, We Bare Bears, Cartoon Network Studios Europe’s The Heroic Quest Of The Valiant Prince Ivandoe and Cartoon Network Latin America’s Jorel’s Brother have been selected for Annecy’s 2018 TV Films In Competition and will be shown at the festival.

This year’s theme at the Annecy Animation Festival is Brazilian animation and three Cartoon Network Brazil shows will be showcased at the festival (along with the aforementioned Jorel’s Brother series) – Oswaldo, Mônica Toy (Turma da Mônica/Monica’s Gang spin-off) and Historietas Assombradas para Crianças Maleriadas (Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids).

Also, the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack – Genndy Tartakovsky, will also be present at the festival.

Cartoon Network President and General Manager – Christina Miller was about to deliver a keynote speech at the Annecy Animation Festival called “Cartoon Network: Drawing the Future”, this has now been cancelled due to business reasons.

Premieres Monday 12th February, new episodes air daily at 10am Colombia, 11am Argentina/Chile, 3pm Mexico and 1.30pm Brazil for the show’s premiere week (Monday 12th February to Friday 16th February), then airs every Thursday at 4.30pm Colombia and 6.30pm Argentina/Chile/Mexico/Brazil.
