Cartoon Network USA And Adult Swim USA Celebrate April Fools’ Day 2019

Today (1st April), is April Fools’ Day, a day that’s celebrated all over the world and is known for its practical jokes and Cartoon Network and Adult Swim is no exception. Cartoon Network USA has been airing some of the best episodes featuring pranks, with next bumper presentation highlighting the best prank fails and wins, with clips from shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball, Total DramaRama and Teen Titans Go!.

Adult Swim pranked its viewers with a brand new show – Gemusetto Machu Picchu, an animated show that parodies Japanese anime, most particularly of the sports sub-genre and is about a boy who competes in a tennis tournament in one of the most random places ever – Machu Picchu, the world famous citadel of the Incan civilisation in Peru. a total of six episodes were aired last night from 12am ET/PT, with five episodes lasting an hour and the finale lasting 45 minutes.

Gemusetto Machu Picchu was simulcasted on both television and the Adult Swim online livestream. The title of the show is a pun on the English language originated Tennis term – Game, Set and Match in Tennis and Gemusetto (to itchi) is the Japanese version of the term, with the Machu part of Machu Picchu forming the “match” part of the pun.

Gemusetto Machu Picchu was only trademarked by Cartoon Network in December last year, and before last night’s show premiere, very little info about the show was publicly released. Gemusetto Machu Picchu also aired on the brand new Adult Swim channel in Canada, six hours before the channel’s official launch and while the channel was still technically called “Action”, a now defunct channel brand (as of today) owned by Corus.

Meanwhile, Cartoon Network Southeast Asia pranked its YouTube channel subscribers with a video revealing a new fourth bear in We Bare Bears, but it turns out it was just a prank, it was only Grizzy from Grizzy and The Lemmings.

As today is also the launch day of the brand new Adult Swim Canada TV channel, the Rickmobile (a giant Rick-shaped vehicle/mobile pop-up shop) crossed the border into Canada and has been touring the streets of downtown Toronto today. At various locations in Toronto, fans had the opportunity to check out the vehicle and buy some exclusive merchandise. On Wednesday 3rd April, Corus Entertainment (the owners and operators of Adult Swim Canada, under a licensing agreeement with WarnerMedia) will be hosting a launch party to celebrate the launch of the brand new channel, attending the party will be Sarah Chalke – the Canadian voice actress of Beth in Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.
