Boomerang Now Available In Portugal On Vodafone And Nowo
Cartoon Network’s sister channel, Boomerang has finally launched in Portugal, a European Portuguese language version of the channel was originally launched in 2015, but for three years, the channel was only available in two ex-Portuguese colonies in Africa – Angola and Mozambique. At present, the channel is only available on cable operator – Nowo and IPTV operator – Vodafone. Portugal used to have the African version of Boomerang along with Cartoon Network Africa up until December 2013, but Boomerang Africa ceased broadcasting in Portugal when Cartoon Network Portugal launched in the country.
Boomerang Portugal isn’t that dissimilar to other international versions of the Boomerang TV channel, the channel has programming from Warner Bros. Animation such as Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, along with contemporary animated programming from third-party studios such as Grizzy and the Lemmings and Pat the Dog. The channel’s main demographic is children aged between four and seven years old, but also targets families as a whole.
Regarding Boomerang’s launch in Portugal, Daniel González, General Manager of Turner Spain and Portugal said (translated):
“Boomerang is a very strong kids’ brand that’s very close to children. A place where they find a lot of humor and lots of fun in an environment that parents consider to be very safe. It is one of the emblems of our company and it is a great satisfaction to be able to offer it to Portuguese children”.
Jaime Ondarza, SVP for Turner Southern Europe and Africa also added (translated):
“Boomerang is one of our key brands and is distributed with great success throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Portugal is a market we consider to be very important.”
