Cartoon Network MENA And Boomerang MENA Launch On beIN Also In HD

According to news posted yesterday (01/07/2016) by forum members on the Arabic language forum website, Cartoon Network MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Boomerang MENA have launched and are now available in high definition on Middle Eastern direct-to-home satellite television provider, BeIN. Also according to forum members, both channels have the option to watch shows with Arabic audio. Both channels replace Cartoon Network Africa and Boomerang Africa on beIN.

BeIN has three different versions of Cartoon Network available on its television platform, the free-to-air Cartoon Network Arabic version, Cartoon Network MENA in English (with Arabic audio and also along with Boomerang MENA English) and the new Cartoon Network Hindi feed which launched in May this year.

Update and Correction:

According to ToonZone member Simon Petrikov who lives in Algeria (where beIN is available as a pay-tv provider), the new HD feed (i.e. CN MENA in English) is actually separate from Cartoon Network Africa which continues to be distributed on some providers in the Arab World, however the new feed does broadcast in Africa (North Africa to be exact) as well as the Middle East. Both new channels have a unique schedule.

From The Turner MENA Press Release:

With the growing demand for tailored content and the lack of a dedicated kids platform that caters to the large South Asian demographic, Turner, a division of Time Warner and parent company of Cartoon Network Arabic, has successfully launched its fourth flagship kids channel, Cartoon Network Hindi.

The channel is aimed at entertaining the significant number of children between the ages of 4 to 14 from the sub-continent residing in the region. Available in Hindi only, the new channel will include a line-up of popular Cartoon Network originals from Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time and many more in addition to popular Indian produced cartoon series that are also airing on Turner Channels in India.

“The launch of Cartoon Network Hindi continues to build on our popularity and position as one of the leading dedicated kids’ channels in MENA. It will be the first international cartoon channel available in Hindi throughout the region and we are proud to see it move into this newly developed chapter” said Tarek Mounir, Vice President and General Manager Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, Greece & Cyprus at Turner.

Taking into consideration the percentage of South Asian families residing in the UAE and other GCC countries, Turner will be the first broadcaster in the region to cater for this untapped kids market. Cartoon Network Hindi will be available as a pay TV channel on beIN (as Turner’s exclusive Direct to Home partner) and on E-Vision part of Etisalat and du in the UAE. As a testament to the importance of launching such a dedicated channel, New Boy – a prominent toy manufacturer and distributor – has also come on board as a key advertising partner.

Turner is now the only broadcasting network in MENA to offer dedicated kids channels in three different languages Arabic (through its free to air Cartoon Network Arabic), English (through Cartoon Network and Boomerang) and Hindi (through Cartoon Network Hindi). The addition of Cartoon Network Hindi is a part of Turner’s continued growth platform planned for the region.
