A Few Cartoon Network EMEA Feeds Acquire Broadcasting Rights To Birdo Studio’s Oswaldo
A bunch of localised versions of Cartoon Network in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) area have acquired the broadcasting rights to Birdo Studio’s Oswaldo, an animated comedy series that originally debuted on Cartoon Network Brazil. Oswaldo will premiere on Cartoon Network Italy, Cartoon Network Turkey, Cartoon Network MENA or Cartoon Network Arabic (or even both) in the Middle East, Cartoon Network Africa and also in Israel. In Southeast Asia, Disney Channel acquired the broadcasting rights to the show.
The deals were brokered by president and owner of Kid Glove – Brenda Wooding. UK-based Jetpack Distibution also handle the show’s distribution rights along with Kid Glove. For the show’s second season, Oswaldo is co-produced by India’s Symbiosys Entertainment. Thirteen episodes of Oswaldo are already available to air, production is already underway for an additional 39 episodes.
Oswaldo, the show’s titular character, is a 12 year old penguin who lives as a human boy, he was discovered by his adoptive parents on a beach in Rio de Janeiro when he was a baby, thousands of miles away from his real home in Antarctica. When Oswaldo started going to school, Oswaldo quickly learns more about the outside world and has lots of fun with his new friends in the boiling heat of Rio.
