Cartoon Network Africa Celebrates High Ratings In South Africa In Early 2018
Cartoon Network has exceeded its own viewing expectations in South Africa with the broadcast of the Power Rangers: Clash of the Red Rangers movie. When the movie aired on 10th March on Cartoon Network Africa, nearly 171,000 children in South Africa aged between four and fourteen years old tuned into the channel, this is the channel’s highest ever viewing performance, even beating free-to-air channels during the 8.20am to 9.09am timeslot.
Cartoon Network is the most popular childrens’ channel in South Africa but interestingly, its most popular show isn’t even a cartoon, it’s in fact a live-action show – Power Rangers Ninja Steel. The second most popular show on the channel is Cartoon Network’s very own OK K.O.! Lets’ Be Heroes! followed by Warner Bros. Animation’s Teen Titans Go!. Turner’s partnership with Mediamark has helped link up South African advertisers with Cartoon Network’s most successful shows and movies. Boomerang is also the second most popular kids’ channel in South Africa, collectively, Turner’s kids’ channels have been the most viewed for a total of 33 consecutive months.
