As announced this week, Cartoon Network Nordic’s creative and programming operations are moving to Sweden and Denmark from London, the reason for the move is to work more closely with their local audiences and improve the quality of their localised version of Cartoon Network and Boomerang. The new offices will be located in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Bo Østergaard, Director of Turner Broadcasting in the Nordic and Baltic countries, made this statement regarding the move (Translated into English):
“Turner is currently going through a very exciting phase where we will focus very heavily on Cartoon Network and Boomerang at a local level, a development that gives us more flexibility and will bring us closer to our viewers”
Morten Skov Hansen has been hired as programme director for Cartoon Network and Boomerang Nordic and Agnethe Pontoppidan has also been hired as presentation manager.
Cartoon Network Nordic airs in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland and will still be part of the Northern Europe group of Turner channels headed by Ian McDonough, which also includes the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
